Resources?

Joe,

I also enjoy human interaction (unless it's confrontational). Our society is
becoming increasingly depersonalized. I can pump gas, do my banking, even tune
some pianos, communicate with all six of my siblings at once, etc. without
speaking a word. I do not see depersonalization as a good thing, but we do it
because it is convenient. I even like telephone answering machines if I want to
leave a quick message for someone who isn't home.

Convenience, and not just my own, is probably one of the main reasons I like
this list. If I call another tech about a situation, s/he may be at work, or
eating supper, or enjoying a time of time off, and it can be frustrating just
trying to make the initial contact. With this list, people can, and do,
contribute at almost all hours, and no one is inconvenienced. It doesn't work
well, though, if I am faced with a problem for which I need some immediate
input. Laziness? No. Something else. You bet.

Which generation are you from, anyway? <G> This topic seems to me to be one an
olde-timer would bring up. Maybe I don't fit that category yet, but I'm not
that far off, either.

Regards, Clyde
