An SAT is the Sanderson Accu-Tuner, an EDT, electronic tuning aid.

Helmholtz is rather hard plowing and at your level I do not recommend
it.  Get the knowledge behind you, the vocabulary and some background on
the book.  Then read it if you wish.

Best reading is the Reblitz book, which may well be a text where you are
going.
