To look at this from another perspective, what right has an itinerate tuner 
to add something to the hammers
on someone else's piano?  Would not a hammer iron have the same effect 
without introducing something into
the felt and be easily reversed? There would be no problem getting an iron 
and rheostat through security.

I know that if I had a piano voiced for the way the resident performing 
artists prefer and someone came in and
altered it for a travelling show, I be rather pissed off.
