Loose pin: Use Liquid Paper or some such and paint the tip of the loose pin so you will know next time that it is looser than the rest. Or you can remove the pin and use a strip of 100 grit sandpaper long enough to reach the bottom of the pin hole and 1/3 the circumference of the pin. Drive the pin in and put the wire back on, tighten the coil and drive the pin in to the same height as the neighbors. If the cracks in the block assembly are between the posts in the back there is no problem. If the cracks are at the post ends then those will need to be fixed. Look in the archives under "pinblock back separation". Dead bass strings from a fire you should replace. Is there smoke damage? Water damage? Action damage? If the strings are corroded then they will need replacement as well. Smoke is extremely toxic and the piano will need a good wash down and if it smells have it put into an ozone chamber to neutralize the smell. Newton
