tuning speed

Hello

Last year I bought a Jahn tuning lever from Pianotek.
I love how solid the hammer is. Because of the shape
of the head there is no flex where the shaft meets
the head. I expected it to make tuning a bit more
enjoyable for me because I have always been frustrated
by "head flex" and it certainly has not let me down
in that regard.

One unexpected result of using this hammer is that
it has cut a good five minutes off of my average
tuning time. It cuts at least ten minutes off the
time it takes me to do a concert tuning on a grand
with tight pins. More of the energy applied to the
lever is translated directly to the pin and is
not lost in flexing the hammer itself.

I had to do some minor modifications to the hammer.
When I received the hammer its condition was far
below what I was expecting given the price I paid for
it. In about a week I will post a web page that details
my experience with the Jahn hammer.

In the past I have used Hale, Schaff, Renner,
Wonderwand, APSCO, Ford, and numerous homemade
hammers.
