I'm using a 10" Sony VAIO thats less than 3 lbs. CD is outboard and no floppy to save weight.Running RCT. I have no trouble getting it to sit on the top of narrow uprights. It's an SK-33K. I have a free upgrade to XP on the way. It available for around $1100 with a $100 rebate, either direct from Sony or from Datavision I also have a 15" Sony VAIO PCG-FX370 , running XP,with all the extras on it. It is too big to lug around and doesn't fit on top of anything except a grand. The XP system is great, it goes out to the web when on line and checks for Microsoft upgrades and after checking with me will download and install them, very fast, great. I also have my PTbiz database on the little 10" so it's with me all the time. Now if I just had a tiny printer! I'm aware of the Canon battery powered little guy, but had one a while back and didn't like it. RCT is the best for pitch raises that I've used. % of pulls that Dean has in the software do a great job without over pulling the base section. You tell the maching the first plain string note, at that point the overpull increases.
