Oh. The way your post was written, it almost sounded as if you had done =
a complete conversion, rather than enslaving the entire DG2 to yet =
another box such as the DSR-1. In other words, there is no getting rid =
of that big box, but there are a number of toys in smaller boxes that =
can be added to it. If I am not mistaken, Yamaha has a CD add-on that =
will work on a wagon grand. (Anybody else have experience with this? =
Haven't played with one yet ....)

For the record, my understanding of why the external box was necessary =
in the early grand Disklaviers was to house the power supply, which was =
enormous compared to what is on later Disklaviers. The problem with a =
large power supply is that it puts out a lot of heat, which in turn is =
quite capable of cooking the piano. The nature of the drive systems on =
those early Disklaviers made such power supplies necessary.

One head acts as a slave and one as the master. Tone generator is in =
the new "head"=20

Huh? I didn't know it was possible to upgrade the electronics of a =
wagon grand without gutting everything and starting over. Customer is =
probably better off just going for broke and getting one of the new Mark =
III grands with the CD-playing capabilities and all the other bells and =
whistles. Z! Reinhardt RPT=20

Yes this is very possible as i have a customer who just did it on =
her G2 wagon grand. Your best bet for the how to's and such is Mark =
Wisner. All electronics are cost prohibitive. More bells and whistles on =
the newer models so that could be a consideration. What does your =
customer want to do with it?=20

                                    Hi Gang,=20

Tuned a Yamaha G2 today with one of those big floor model =
Disklavier's and the guy wants to get rid of the ?big ugly noisy box? =
and upgrade to a small under the keyboard box AND add orchestration, I =
guess that means a tone generator. I don't think money is an issue.=20
            Is this possible?
