Hammer hardeners: a poll

Acetone/keytop is not good for densifying the felt overall. A drop or two
is ok to sharpen the attack on the crown. I use lacquer. The solution will
vary depending on the solids matter in the lacquer. I use 3:1, 4:1 and 5:1,
depending on the section of the piano and how much densifying I need. I use
a clear gloss, high solids nitrocellulose lacquer diluted with acetone.

Subject: Hammer hardeners: a poll

Hi all,

While the subject of hammer voicing is being bandied about, I would like to
know what people's favorite hammer hardeners are. I know that a lacquer
based solution requires some time for the results to show whereas the
acetone/keytop mixture works real quick.

Any comments?
