Brass Letters..... help

If the piano finish is old perhaps there is potential here. If the finish is real nice, I would consider sanding off the entire decal and putting on a new one with lacquer over the whole shabang. My new 1098 was missing the letter "O" from "SONS". The dealer fixed it by placing a new "O" in the empty spot and then spraying some lacquer over it. The "O" was a little high, rotated slightly, and was clearly a different color (likely from less lacquer on top of it) than the other letters. IMHO it looked like a patch job - not appropriate for an expensive instrument.

Just something to consider. Would like to hear what you end up doing.
