Les, I don't know if we are losing instructors or not.  I do notice that many of the big names teach the same classes over and over.  I've been to so many natl's that I've seen these already.  They may be a big draw, but that has to be from those that are new or haven't seen those classes before.  I look for classes I haven't seen before.

For your other question.  I've taught my class "Make you own tools" for 6 chapters and at the 2000 Ca state.  I offered to give it at Reno and Chicago by e-mail to the institute directors.
I didn't even get the courtesy of a reply.  I have my own projector, screen and stand.  It's possible that I might give it at the 2003 Ca state.  I was part of the training department at Ampex Corp for 6 years a long time ago, so I can think on my feet.

Although my offer is still good, I don't plan on making any further overtures.  It's not my loss.  Politics is not my bag.
