Hi Terry, What piece did she play when she tried the piano *before* you left her home? Or did you play it for her? I try if at all possible to have the client play and approve the tuning before I leave. I suspect that a Whitney that went 40 cents flat in 3 weeks may have a (hidden) structural flaw. Do go back, do check the piano. If it is still accepteable then you have an education opportunity with this elderly client. Is she wearing hearing aides? They have a generally adverse effect on tunings. I do believe you should have told her about the temperament, on the basis of full disclosure.
