Notetab is an excellent dos word processor: http://www.notetab.ch/ and

There are alternatives. Try Sun's office suite, StarOffice, which runs 
circles around MS Office, and also happens to be very cheap (in fact it was 
free until the latest version came out last month) and completely 
compatible with other formats like Word and WP (no proprietry MS nonsense 
designed only to gain captive users): http://www.staroffice.com/
