Something to facilitate the tuning process:

Since the tuning pins are in another area code than the keyboard, it is 
wise to index
the pins for tuning the temperament (if tuning aurally).

Enlarge the center hole on front rail punchings and mark the names of the 
note on them.
Place them onto the pins setting the temperament after the section has been 
strip muted.

Now you'll only need is a good pair of field glasses to read the letters on 
the punchings
instead of crawling across the strings.
