Del,
 Your statement: "It is easy to build any crown supporting capability needed
into the ribs." Hmm? Would it be possible to laminate Carbon Fiber or some
other similar product, into the ribs, in order to maintain a more permanent
crown of the ribs/board?  That sort of product doesn't seem to have a
"compression set", like wood does. A lot of that sort of thing is being done
in Guitar necks, these days. Seems to make a better Bass Guitar neck, IMO.
