I use thick CA with a mini bar-clamp. I have glued little strips of wood
on the end of each clamp arm(?) so it will fit better on the curved
surface of the felt right near the tail of the head (tail of the
head??).

Then, I go a step further. I drill two tiny holes all the way through
the head and molding and feed a piece of 22 ga. wire through the holes.
I twist the wire very tightly, trim off all but about a 1/4" of the
twisted part, and mash the remainder down. In other words, I make my own
tight staple. Works fine, looks okay.

I've had good results using a hot glue gun. Lay a generous bead
along either the felt or the molding. Hold for about 90 seconds by hand
or with some type of clamp. I've used the mini trigger clamp, and
you're done! Havn't had one fail yet.

Didn't check the archive but is there a simple way to repair split
hammer heads? I tuned a customer's spinet piano Monday and about 7 of
the heads had the felts pulled away from one side of the hammers (most
on top but some at the bottom). I thought perhaps clamping and glue but
what type of glue? And would the pressure the heads are under allow the
same things to happen all over again? Since it is a spinet I hope to
avoid taking out the action.
