Spliting Heads

I've CAed hammer felts that had previously been hot-glued! Not trying to top you - perhaps if the glue does work well, it would be fine - perhaps this glue had not been properly applied. But CA sure is easy and fast.

I've had good results using a hot glue gun. Lay a generous bead along either the felt or the molding. Hold for about 90 seconds by hand or with some type of clamp. I've used the mini trigger clamp, and you're done! Havn't had one fail yet.

Didn't check the archive but is there a simple way to repair split hammer heads? I tuned a customer's spinet piano Monday and about 7 of the heads had the felts pulled away from one side of the hammers (most on top but some at the bottom). I thought perhaps clamping and glue but what type of glue? And would the pressure the heads are under allow the same things to happen all over again? Since it is a spinet I hope to avoid taking out the action.
