If they are not original then the hammers and capstan placement must not be 
original either, since I don't think the action would be playable without 
the assist springs in its current configuration.  That is of course 
possible, but I would be surprised.

Something of the way the action originally felt.  My thinking is that a low 
leverage action with assist springs is going to feel different than a 
higher leverage action without assist springs.
