Dear English chemists . Can you please give me a good translation for the usual word "lye" , I have read that product can be used in hide glue if the original glue is too fat (happens often I guess). My understanding is something like potassium soda, it is supposed to turn the fat into soap. Thanks in advance, and I'll tell you soon if the trick is as good as it seem.
