Too efficient dampers?

Only if you include pedal technique as part of the pianos sustain. I get
your point tho, and when you first mention this.... if dampers are <<
absolutely poifectly regulated >> you should be able to adjust the pedal
so that dampers would allow just a tad of  << after ring >>.
Unfortunatly... the system is far to unstable to remain regulated so
precisely thus, so we cant get away with that.
