Hammer assist spring ? - also tensioning the balance rail

Another reason that I think of , I wander, (it  is relative also to
the old thread on keyboard bedding and tensioning the balance rail) ,
is that we try to keep the energy at the maximum in the hammer head,
so it is supposed to be slightly uncoupled from the rest of the action
when playing.

This is a possible explanation of the added power when the balance
rail is tensioned, at the same time, that is also why cutting an arch
shape under the screw hole in the hammer flange add some strength and
a faster tone on any hammer.

I'll send pics if you wish , the experiment is easy to do.

Then having a spring holding the hammer is probably in the way of that
freeness is not it ?
