Alan,

Yes, so much for dealer prep, but what about the lack of thoroughness by
technicians who serviced the piano the last sixteen years?

As to guarantees, they vary. Ten-year seems to be the most common. According
to the Piano Book, the following is true for some of the better-known brands:

Lifetime/12-15 years, Knabe, Mason & Hamlin, Samick, Weber, Young Chang
25 years, Astin-Weight
12 years, Hyundai, Charles Walter
10 years, Bluthner, Bosendorfer, Boston, Essex, Estonia, Everett, Kawai, Kemble,
Pearl River, Petrof, Pleyel, Sauter, Schimmel, Seiler, Yamaha
5 years, Bechstein, Fazioli, Steinway

Regards, Clyde
