You all will have to forgive me. I have never taken a plate out, or even restrung a piano yet. I repinned one, in the home, but no new strings. The repinning and putting in a couple of sets of bass strings are the biggest jobs I have done. When I think about putting in a new pin block, I think, HELP! How in the world would I ever do something like that myself. Yeah, I have Reblitz's book, but no experience. You guys have done it all. Boy, I guess if the plate is just painted, one must have to be REAL careful when restringing. One slip, and....... I have made many a scratch in old plates while splicing or putting in a new string. Hopefully that was all good experience for when it comes to being extra careful. Thanks again for all the info. -----Original Message----- From: pianotech-bounces@ptg.org [mailto:pianotech-bounces@ptg.org]On Behalf Of Richard Brekne Sent: Sunday, June 29, 2003 5:24 PM To: Pianotech Subject: Re: Refinished Plates, etc./Strang Joseph Garrett wrote: > "Speaking of refinished plates, do you guys paint them or plate them?" > > Richard, > I've never been able to find a "plater" that had a tank big enough to do a > piano plate!
