Dave, While a full DC system would doubtless be an advantage, making certain that the immediate environment has been stable at the temperature it will be in when it's being used, at the time you tune it, will be a big help. That's probably one of the reasons they were thrilled with the tuning you finished just before the performance. It's hard to "blame" the tuner, who arrives on Friday morning to tune the piano, for going ahead and tuning it when the room temperature is 55-60 degrees (and the heat just kicking in), when the piano will be used as the room is at 72 degrees on Sunday morning. The "ideal technician" would have made certain the heat had been on overnight, or at least a number of hours before he arrived. Pay attention to those kinds of details and your customers will continue to think highly of you (although the person who worries about the heating costs will grumble a bit). Patrick Draine
