pornographic book on the sexual prowess of the native
women here, which was a runaway best seller all over
Europe, greatly inciting interest ( among uncouth men,
at least ) in travelling to the "New World".
     And that, dear friends, is the actual reason why
these lands were named in his "honor".
     No kidding.

	Did you get that book from Amazon? Get it ---that's a joke. You
know ---Amazon, the tribe of women and Amazon the book seller. The joke
is in the connection between the names ,not a western-white mans
indifference to the exploitation of  "new World" indigenous peoples. 
	Just trying to help ole Gordo keep his cool here while injecting
some humor into this O.T. thread.
