"Somewhere, Over The Rainbow" was one of the last songs my father taught =
me,
and one I play regularly again along with Mozart's Rondo ala Turka, Fur
Elise and the odd Tom Lehrer tune. =0D

I say "again" because a few months after my father passed away I tuned fo=
r
one of his old customers, a lovely couple in their 80s whose piano he had
looked after for almost half a century. When I was finished I played=20
Rainbow" just as he had done for them so many times before. After the son=
g,
the gentleman wheeled his wife into their bedroom as, with a tear in her
eyes, she said goodbye and thank you to me. Two days later her obituary
appeared in the paper, saying she had passed away peacefully at home that
afternoon.=0D
 =0D
It was years before I could bring myself to play it again, and now when I=
 do
I always think of both my father and her.=0D
