I have replaced several strings in the = treble section of the fairly new piano in the last few months. The = pianist admits to playing the instrument too hard and that the strings = break while he is playing. What can I do to decrease the likelihood of string breakage in that = piano? Wesley Hardman, Associate Member PTG Scottsboro, Alabama Yes, I would do all of the following: check hammer filing, alignment = of hammers to strings, strike point, but mainly voicing -- they're = probably too hard. Either prick the string grooves with a voicing = needle or steam them. Or file the hammers first, then voice down. = Should be able to leave let-off at about 1/8", but if he's really a = pounder, increase it some. --David Nereson, RPT ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
