This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Roy: First I have all of my clients listed in Outlook. This includes name, address, multiple phone numbers, email, etc. This also includes one large blank field, where you can enter any information you want. I typically include directions to the persons house, and work history in this area. With Outlook it is possible to create custom fields (or so I've been told. just too lazy to do it) which would allow for more of a spread sheet feel to the work history. But I don't really feel the need for it. I simply record the work I've done under the appropriate customer, and save the information. I can also then use the calendar function to schedule other appointments, check schedule, etc. And because this is all done in Outlook, everything communicates with everything else just fine. My PDA also has built in WiFi, which allows me to utilize numerous internet connections that I find while driving around (shhhhhh!) or in many customer's homes. This means that I can access my desktop computer if need be, and add any information (or retrieve any) that I might need to for some odd reason. PTBiz on the PC, and using a Pocket PC. So far I am just printing out work orders and carrying them with me. I make appointments and notes on the Pocket PC and manually enter them into PTBiz later. It's not perfect, but it works. I understand you can create reports in PTBiz, export the data into an Excel file, and then transfer that to Pocket Excel. I haven't tried it yet. The real time saver would be to be able to set appointments in the field, and not have to re-enter information into the main program later. It certainly seems that since the Pocket PC has a calender and contact list built in, it would make sense to use those and sync with Outlook. JF, could you describe what you do in a little more detail? For me this is going to have to be a gradual transition, unless it is possible to convert the PTBiz database into another format. I will look into some of these other options which have been mentioned. Thanks all. Roy Peters Cincinnati ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
