It is in fact accurate enough, but one may be attentive not to touch the jacks button or the reading is false. the advantage is that you read each time the highest spot during the hammer travel, may be more surely that with weights (???) it is a bit strange to use at first because one have to push on the key, straight, an with an even motion, and the weight of the tool is part of the move of course. But the readings are similar (2-3g near) to the weights. if a good setup could be made, the same kind of tool could be used to input automatically DW UW measures in a computer, Iam sure David is working on that is not it David ? this one was made in Italy, it was cheap (in a disrupcy sale) $20 or so.
