Anybody who has watched a high-speed photo sequence of an action in motion
does. Hammershank flex is a constant and variable thing. The amount of flex
is directly (though unpredictably) related to the force of the keystroke
driving it. The specific amount and direction of hammershank flex at hammer
impact is totally unpredictable.
