Hey all,

After reading the Steinway model posts, I had to go take another look at =
my "A"--6' 2", made in 1914 (according to its serial number). It didn't =
quite fit the information given below, but does fit nicely into the info =
given at the link above. One thing for sure, it really kicks! It's a =
joy to play--now if I could just find someone to tune it. ;-)=20

The Steinway you speak of is a
  " round tail A " slang !! with 85 notes.
It has a "hook" bridge that carries two =20
two string and seven three string unisons=20
  all wrapped.
      =20
Many believe that this was the piano=20
that "made" Steinway. Its, production began
in 1878. The first of the 88 note models
  were built in 1892. =20

The "Square" tail A,s without the hook=20
bridge began production in 1896/97. This
  A was discontinued in 1913.

        In 1913 the 6'4" A was put into=20
  production then discontinued in 1947.=20

As a side note many, including me, think=20
this was a mistake a bad mistake. =20
The 6'4" A is now being built in Germany.
