I would guess that the result are variable... far more so then a new
block would be. What you plugged with compared to the origional wood,
grain orientation, degree of MC for both peices at the time of the
repair.. all the usual stuff that can cause the repair to fail. Some
folks will take pains to take all that into consideration, others will
not I suppose.
