.  I tune using a Verituner and tune so that the
spinner stops about 1 second into the note playing.  I just try and be as
consistent as possible this way.

This seems to work well for me but I'd be interested in hearing what others
out there are doing.

I would say the key word is consistancy. I, too, tune in this fashion, with
a SATII. However, Ron was talking about Pitch Raising, not Tuning. (At least
that was how I interpreted his post.)
