Spreading flanges on Steinway upright

Greetings listers,

I have an 1887 SnS upright that has either wide, or spreading wip
flanges. One or two are split, but the rest seem like they were really
screwed down at one time. I took some digital photos, email me if you would
like to see them.
What is happening is that the wip itself can move up to .050 (a #20 center
pin) sideways, or when pushed against one leg of the flange there is a .050
gap between the birds eye and other leg.

Has anyone encountered this and how much should I worry. There is no
visible evidence of this in the spacing of the wippens when the action is in
the piano. The wips that were off were due to broken, or loose flanges.

Also is there a source for individual jacks? I hate to buy a whole new
wip assembly just because a jack lost its heel.
Schaff and Pianotek don't show them.

Thanks

Richard Moody
