Plain steel bichords

Saw this for the first time yesterday, on a 20-year-old Asian =
"Chickering" console.  The bottom two notes of the treble bridge were =
bichords wound with the finest copper, almost thread-sized; the next two =
notes were plain steel bichords.

It sounded bad, too.
