Nope. The cent is a scientifical unit of measure of musical intervals mainly used in anglo-saxon countries, introduced by A.J. Ellis (England, 1804 - 1890), and equal to 1/100 of an equaly tempered semi-tone. Ellis needed this relative highth of pitch measure for his phonetic studies about english dialects, and the various ways vowels were pronounced in different countries.
