I look forward to the day that my schedule is busy enough that I can turn=20
away business of any kind.=A0 On the other hand, I'm not sure that I'll ever=
=20
discriminate against those who can't afford a Steinway.

I have often been told that I made that spinet sound better than it ever=20
has.=A0 Whereas I'm unable to take compliments too seriously, especially fro=
m the=20
uninformed public, in this case, I believe them, because I take a little ext=
ra=20
time to try to make that piano sound like a piano.=A0 I always do one extra=20=
pass,=20
after I'm completely done tuning their false-beat plagued piano, to listen t=
o=20
each unison and I always find a few that can be cleaned up.=A0=A0 I call it=20=
a=20
"spinet pass" and I can't tell you what a difference this makes.=A0 I work a=
 little=20
harder because it's difficult for me to get up and walk away from a piano=20
until I am satisfied that it sounds as good as it possibly can.

My attitude regarding the low end piano is the antithesis of a comment I rea=
d=20
here on the list a few years ago: "I put a timer on the piano and when 45=20
minutes passes, the piano is tuned."=A0

Yes, it's harder to tune that beast, but I think no one would argue the fact=
=20
that we tuners offer service to people.=A0 Some people own Steinways.=A0 Som=
e=20
people own other pianos.=A0
