I really like square-drive screws (Robertsons) for securing upright soundboard
back to the ribs.  They remain on the tip while guiding the screw through the
wires.  A ball-tip does allow driving at an angle.  I use self-drilling (even though
I drill a small pilot hole) and a head with 'nibs' (ridges on the underside of the 
bevel to facilitate a countersink).
