I've once seen a piano with small (but distinct) scratches on the strings near the bridge pins - apperently someone had been seating the strings by placing a screwdriver (or a chisel ?) againsts a string and tapping with a hammer at the other end. They didn't tend to break at the bridge, thought, but still - examine the strings at the bridge, parhaps some wizard has once been trying to seat them in a manner like that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "valentino tessaro" <vatessar@tin.it> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2004 6:39 PM Subject: String breakage > Hello, I am Valentino. > I have a problem with a Yamaha U3 silent (2 years of life): the > strings are breaking at the bridge.
