Jason and just what would he describe those "special qualities" as?? :-)
Anything at all that you might do is going to change the sound and he needs 
to understand that up front. Whatever hammer you use the old thingee will have 
a clearer presence and cleaner tone...as to voicing???? Could be you might 
want to put on one or two new thingees on and let he hear for himself, whatever 
hammer you choose to go with, before you do the whole thing and he says "you 
have destroyed the "special qualities" of my baby!!!!
