This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hi Jack, A master Piano Artisan is nothing but a registered piano technician who = holds a special degree delivered by Kawai Japan. This means that he or she has been trained in Japan Kawai lab, working = on concert grands and shigeru kawai brand. The master Piano Artisan is, in principle, the only one having the right = to service Shigeru Kawai pianos (this can be a=20 problem, since your dealer might tell you he is not allowed to do = anything except tuning). Usually, a piano technician has to do several trainings (once a year) to = keep his license to service the shigeru's... It's my feeling that Kawai considers the Shigeru as the "jewels of the = crown", which is a bit over-estimated. According to Kawai, you can or need to do only very little things on the = shigeru's, and only the MPA can do it. This is likely over-estimating those instruments. I have no doubt that any experienced = piano technician can service those pianos... Cheers, Stephane Hanriat (owner of Shigeru Kawai SK3) ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Jack Houweling=20 To: Pianotech=20 Sent: Tuesday, February 24, 2004 7:16 AM Subject: Master Piano Artisan Hello=20 What is a Master Piano Artisan? I have heard this in past postings and = want to know what qualifies one for using this term? Is there schools or = tests to become a MPA? Just curious.
