Hello everybody,

There is a vintage Mason & Hamlin upright that is being sold by the State of New York. The cabinet looks identical to a 1925 I've seen, but from some of the numbers below, maybe it was made between 1915 and 1919. It is located in Batavia New York, which is upstate, in the neighborhood of Buffalo, I believe. The current bid is only $10 and there is no minimum bid. The auction expires at 5 a.m. Pacific Time tomorrow, Wednesday, i.e., in about 14 hours. Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3701926271.

It is said to be in 'good condition,' but who knows what that means; however there is a picture at the link. It is sold strictly as-is, and apparently has lived, and would have to be picked up from the ground floor of, the New York State School for the Blind in Batavia.

A woman named Cindy at the school was kind enough to give me the following numbers which she had copied off the piano from various places: on plate - D24608; burned into wood on back -- 4518142; "in front of keys inside" (on the action?) -- 25207.

This item carries no picture in the general listing and a typo has it as a "Mason & Hemlin," so it may be overlooked by many.

Just passing this info on in case anybody on the list is in that area and would like to rebuild or experiment with one of these.
