Condemnation and obtaining for personal gain

Thanks to all who have participated so far. I can assure you I did our 
profession proud with the way I handled my dropping jaw line!

Seriously, I was up front from the start. Before I put a hammer to pin, 
we discussed the instrument for about 5 minutes. That's how I found out 
how long between tunings it really had been..amungst other things. The 
age of the people that own this piano are not far in age to the piano 
itself. I guess my thing with this scenario is I  would prefer to have 
them refuse an offer before leaving it behind with the home. How I left 
it with them was by giving them my business card, shaking the man's 
hand,  asking him if he would call me before making any final decisions. 
He said he would think about what had taken place here today and would 
consider it.

What surprises me more than anything about the responses so far is the 
fact that the alligatored case got a no mention from my esteemed 
colleague to the great NE of me...hmmmmmmmmm.
