I saw one of these a couple of years ago that dated well after the turn of the (last) century. 1920’s if I’m not mistaken. I thought that the Pierce Atlas numbers must’ve been wrong until I noticed that it had a modern grand action stack on top of the keys, with normal wips, etc. but I can’t remember what the damper system was like. I still refused to tune it on principal, pawning it off on one of my square-lovin’ friends! Maybe Matushek marketed it as Retro in the 20’s! - Mark -----Original Message----- From: Tvak@aol.com [mailto:Tvak@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2004 8:16 PM To: pianotech@ptg.org Subject: matushek square grand List Without starting a discussion of the uselessness of square grands in general, is a Matushek considered one of the better examples of this genre?
