Hello John, If you find this ringing sound on the same models of this piano it is probably a longitudinal partial resonance with a transversal partial. On plain wire sections this can only be handled by changing the speaking length or taking a string material with a different youngs modulus or specific weight. If you can send me string length and diameter i can check with the MiniMens String Simulator. best regards, Bernhard Stopper ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Ilvedson" <ilvey@sbcglobal.net> To: <pianotech@ptg.org> Sent: Saturday, July 17, 2004 5:07 AM Subject: Re: string ringing, buzzing, etc. > I'd say the Baldwin SF10 was a clue...try muting the tenor section of the back scale. > > David I. > > > > ----- Original message ----------------------------------------> > From: Bec and John <bjsilva001@comcast.net> > To: Pianotech <pianotech@ptg.org> > Received: Fri, 16 Jul 2004 21:40:13 -0400 > Subject: Re: string ringing, buzzing, etc. > > >Hi Avery, > > >I should recheck this, but I'm pretty sure it's ok. > > >The strangest thing is that I used to practise on a Baldwin SF10 which > >had the exact same sound on the exact same note!
