doweling a butt joint

"Drill diagonally from one piece to the other and insert the dowel" would be
far stronger. The other method only serves to increase the glue surface area
a small amount. Another method - if you have the butted surfaces apart - is
to drill straight into both butted surfaces and insert a dowel - that way
the dowel is invisible.

What are you butt jointing? Hmmmmm??
