This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ---------------------- multipart/alternative attachment Hi Jason, The tuning should not be any harder to achieve than tuning it the first = time BTW there is an order to the tuning and a proper set of strings that are = coupled. The right hand strings are the ones to be coupled and the center string = is tuned first then the right string followed by the left string. This will cause the strip mutter to have to remove the mute in a = different order ( top down ) and those of us who use a single split = mute, change the order of muting. For me the mose valuable thing about the couplers will be that they = could be an answer to very bad false beating strings. The couplers are easily removed. I would not use them personally on a performance venue instrument Joe Goss imatunr@srvinet.com www.mothergoosetools.com ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Jason Kanter=20 To: Pianotech=20 Sent: Sunday, March 07, 2004 12:00 PM Subject: coupled strings Curious if anyone has an opinion about the "string coupling" technique = that was the cover story on last month's Journal. Seemed to me that = while the coupling might help a tuning seem to last longer, the next = tuning might be unduly complicated by the coupling. Is anyone doing = this?
