I think the tail works best at 1" and functions best when at the point
of let-off the bottom of the tail is about 1 mm above the top of the
backcheck.

I forgot to ask: How do you determine the length of the hammer tail
needed. As I'm putting new backchecks on new keys, this is an item of
concern. BTW, I made a tool for quickly checking the backcheck angle and
the distance between the tail and the check, in the "drop" position.<G>
