-----Original Message----- ... Everything about the Schumann grand appears to be quite normal with the exception of the unique bridge termination pieces. The crown is very normal. The strings pass through the brass agraffes on the bridge in such a manner that they are uniformly pressed against the bridge and would remain in contact even without the locating wood screws. This would be akin to the termination pieces used in the Australian Stuart & Son pianos... ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Calin The Stuart & Sons has no crown. There is no down bearing. This is why it has a long sustain and becomes distorted when played heavy.
