Are you sure they are not brittle.  Usually you can break them easily
with a pair of pliers.

Dear List,
I am replacing all the plastic drop action elbows on a Winter spinet.  I
have 40 elbows which are not brittle and have to be removed in some way
other than breaking them off.  Is there an easier way to do this other
than removing the whippens and pushing out each center pin?
