Greetings, 

            I thought that each string's pulling impacts the plate at about 
10 to15 lbs each so say cumulatively; 12 lbs x 240 strings = 2880 lbs extra 
pulling on the plate that wasn't there before you did the tuning.

            When you say torque, do you mean the ft-lbs of work you do, to 
turn the pins? ..or the work pounds difference from before the tuning of the 
piano to after the tuning on the plate?

          Does anyone have the figures on this?
